SINHA, SHRI MAHAMAYA PRASAD, B.A., Janata, (Bihar—Patna—1977): s. of late Shri Mangla Prasad Sinha; b. on May, 1, 1909; ed. at Banaras Hindu University; widower; 2 d.; Agriculturist, Political and social worker; previously associated with Congress, Praja Socialist Party and Bhartiya Kranti Dal; Jailed for six years during British Regime and for more than one year after Independence; ex President, (i) Saran District Congress Committee, for sixteen years, (ii) Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee, (iii) Bihar Praja Socialist Party, and (iv) Bhartiya Kranti Dal; President, Bihar State Gandhi, Smarak, Nidhi Member, Bihar Legislative Assembly and Council during 1946—50 and 1952—74; was Chief Minister of Bihar; Member, Provisional Parliament, 1950—52. Social activities: Working for prohibition, removal of untouchability and Hindu-Muslim unity. Favourite pastime and recreation: physical exercises, Reading and writing. Publications: A book—Jab Mein Mukhya Mantri Tha (When, I was Chief Minister), and many articles on modern problems and description of travels.
