MULLA, SHRI ANAND NARAIN, M.A., LL.B., Ind. (Uttar Pradesh—Lucknow—1967):  s. of Pt. Jagat Narain Mulla; b. at Lucknow, October 24, 1901; ed. at Government Jubilee High School, Lucknow and Canning College, Lucknow; m. Shrimati Annapurna Mulla, February 9, 1923; 1 d.; Advocate; practising as a Senior Advocate, Supreme Court; Chairman, Military Pensions Appeals Tribunal (Indo-Pak Tribunal), 1946—52; Judge, Allahabad High Court, 1954—61; Senior Judge of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, 1958— 61; functioned as one of three judges in the non-official Commission appointed by the Western Bengal Bar Association to enquire into the Bengal disturbances (February to April, 1966) and wrote its report which was adopted by his colleagues and was also accepted by the West Bengal Government; appointed Chairman, Land Acquisition Committee, 1967. Social activities:  Member of a large number of clubs and other social and cultural organisations. Hobby:  Gardening. Favourite pastime and recreation:  Games and cards. Special interest:  Poetry. Accomplishments in letters, art and science: Urdu writer and poet.
