MRITYUNJAY PRASAD, SHRI, Vidyalankar, Janata, (Bihar—Siwan—1977): s. of late Dr. Rajendra Prasad; b. at jiradei, Siwan District, January 2, 1906; ed. at Bihar Vidyapith, Patna; m. Smt. Vidyawati Devi (since deceased); 1 s. and 6 d.; previously associated with the Congress; participated in the Non-Cooperation Movement leaving studies in 1921; conducted a Hindi Weekly "Desh" at Patna from 1924-26; was an inmate of the Satyagrah ashram, Sabarmati, 1926—29, teacher of Hindi there, translator for Hindi 'Navajeevan', and of Gandhiji's writings in Gujarati and English; founder-Member, College of Commerce, Patna; Honorary Treasurer, Bihar Vidyapith, Brajkishor Smarak; Retired Divisional Manager, Life Insurance Corporation; Member, Fourth Lok Sabha, 1967—70; presently Member (i) Estimates Committee, and (ii) Committee on Government Assurances. Favourite pastime and recreation: Reading, writing and occasionally playing chess. Special interests: Study of General Literature, Religious and Political books. Publications: "Aneeti Kee Rahpar" (Translation of Gandhiji's Gujarati book) and several technical articles on Life Insurance published in professional journals.
