BHADORIA, SHRI ARJUN SINGH, Janata, (Uttar Pradesh—Etawah—1977) : s. of Shri Shambhu Singh Bhadoria; b. at Lohiya Village, Etawah District, May 10, 1910; ed. at Government Intermediate College, Etawah.; passed Senior Cambridge; m. Smt. Sarla Bhadoria; 2 s. and 1 d.; Agriculturist; previously associated with the Revolutionary Party and later the Congress Party, 1925—34; founded the Congress Socialist Party in 1934; left Congress in 1948 along with, Shri Jaya Prakash Narayan and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and joined the Socialist Party, 1948—52 and thereafter joined the Praja Socialist Party; rejoined the Socialist Party in 1954 and remained with it till 1964; associated with the Samyukta Socialist Party 1964—74 until the formation of the Bharatiya Lok Dal; participated in the Quit India movement and was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for 42 years; imprisoned in 1974 alongwith wife for 6 months and after release externed from Bihar alongwith wife; imprisoned alongwith wife Smt. Sarla Bhadoria and younger son for 19 months during emergency under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act for participation in the J.P. Movement; beginning from the National movement till date went to jail 47 times; Chairman (twice), State Socialist, U.P.; Convener (twice), Control Commission, All-India Socialist Party; Chairman, (i) Cooperative Bank and (ii) District Cooperative Bank, Etawah; President, (i) Zonal Cooperative Society, Basyghar and (ii) Sahkari Spinning Mill Workers Union, Etawah, Managing Director, District Cooperative Weavers' Stores; Member, Second Lok Sabha, 1957—62 and Fourth Lok Sabha, 1967—70. Social activities: Founded two dozen educational institutions, got the Zila Jan Sahyogi Shiksha Sangh registered and affiliated all educational institutions to it.
