(a)to(f): To monitor the variance between the progress of implementation of the scheme and the progress reported electronically by the States on the scheme MIS, ie. OMMAS, the National Rural Roads Development Agency (NRRDA), Ministry of Rural Development and Centre for Geo-Informatics Application in Rural Development (CGARD) of National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Hyderabad entered into an Memorandum of Understanding on 16.12.2015 to use Satellite imagery for planning and monitoring of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) roads in five States (two districts each) selected under this Pilot project. The States/districts selected under this project are:
(1) Assam (Kamrup and Darrang Districts).
(2) Chhattisgarh (Raigarh and Korba Districts).
(3) Odisha (Puri and Nayagarh Districts).
(4) Rajasthan (Jaipur and Alwar Districts).
(5) Telangana (Nalgonda and Karimnagar Districts)
The estimated cost of this pilot project is Rs. 100.82 lakh, out of which, Rs. 30.246 lakh has so far been released to CGARD, NIRD, Hyderabad.
The report of CGARD based on the pilot project reveals that 70 road works out of 242 road works analyzed using Satellite Imageries have shown variations in road length constructed vis-à-vis road length sanctioned. The district-wise status is given below.

The report of CGARD has also been shared with the concerned States for comments and appropriate action. Based on the outcome of sample study in 10 districts in 5 States, the Ministry has taken a decision to universalize this intervention across all States including Left Wing Extremism affected districts, backward, remote border and hilly areas in collaboration with National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) under Department of Space.
