(a) whether the Government proposes to develop Majauli Island of Assam as a national
site for heritage tourism;
(b) if so, whether any action plan has been formulated in this regard;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the financial assistance provided to the State Government for the same?

(a) & (b): No, Sir. Based on the proposal received from the Government of Assam,
Majauli Island has been identified for development under the Product, Infrastructure
and Destination Development. An amount of Rs.382.25 Lakhs has been sanctioned
for the above project during the year 2002-2003.
(c) & (d): Question does not arise.
