Question : SOLAR POWER CAPACITY IN PUNJAB



(a) the total installed solar power capacity in Punjab;

(b) whether the Government has been able to fulfil the Solar Renewable Purchase Obligation for the year 2012-13 in Punjab; and

(c) if so, the details thereof along with the measures taken to increase the capacity of solar power generated in the State?

(a): The total installed solar power capacity in Punjab is 57 MW.

(b): No, Madam. Solar RPO for FY 2012-13 was (0.07%) 30.48 Million Unit, which could not be achieved till March 2013 and was allowed to be carried forward by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission. This was then achieved by December 2013.

(c): The required Solar Renewable Purchase Obligation was 30.48 Million Unit. During Financial year 2012-13, 12.49 Million Unit was achieved. Remaining, 17.99 Million Units was achieved by December 2013. More capacity is being planned to increase capacity of solar power generated in State.
