School and Goenka College, Sitamarhi and Hindi Vidyapith, Deoghar; m. Smt. Vidyawati Devi, 1954; 2 s. and 3 d.; Agriculturist and social worker; took active part in 1942 Quit India Movement and was imprisoned from 1942 to 1944 as an under trial prisoner; also served nine months jail term after trial; Secretary (i) Sitamarhi Thana Congress Committee, 1952-55, (ii) Samastipur Goods Clerks Association, N.E. Railway since 1966; Member, Third Lok Sabha, 1962-67, (ii) Fourth Lok Sabha 1967-70 and (iii) Estimates Committee, 1970. Social activities.—Upliftment of Harijans, backward classes and scheduled tribes; Students Welfare and Village sanitation campaign; participated in the eradication of caste and sub-caste systems; promotion of labour welfare schemes and in activities directed towards establishing a classless and casteless society; organisation of kisans to take up modernized farming.
