Joined RSS in 1973; actively participated in the Total Revolution Movement initiated by Late Jai Prakash Narayan in 1974; held high positions in A.B.V.P. till 1983; resigned from the post of Assistant Engineer because of differences with Motilal Vora Government while leading the Ram Janam Bhoomi Movement in Madhya Pradesh and became a full time social worker; jailed for 13 days in December 1993 at Mata Tila and Chunar Jail alongwith Shri L.K. Advani, Dr. M.M. Joshi and Shri Kalyan Singh because of Ayodhya incidents; led Goraksha movement in the country and Padyatra for social equity with the slogan “Ek Mandir-Ek Kuaan”
