Led the “Bekari Ke Sawal Par Andolan” in 1969 and was jailed; also led Bhoomi Mukti Andolan, 1970-71; struggled for social causes and suffered imprisonment; Secretary, Bihar Rajya Kisan Sabha, 1990-95; Patron, Monghyr Zila Vikas Sangharsh Samiti, 1994; led the agitation against “Taufir Kand” in which nine persons were killed and four hundred houses were burnt in 1986 and succeeded in convicting the guilty through a special court; led the agitation against “Tirasi Hatya Kand” in which five persons were kidnapped and murdered in 1990 and helped in the arrest of guilty persons; led the agitation in protest against transfer of 4,500 labourers of Jamalpur workshop and succeeded in restoring their transfer for renovation of Jamalpur workshop; was on hunger strike for 14 days for the construction of Ganga bridge in Oct.-Nov. 1994; Vice President, Jagriti (a social organisation), Monghyr since 1995; organised a massive demonstration in November, 1992 in Monghyr against the police-criminal nexus; President, Passengers Amenities Committee, Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), Government of India, 1998-99
