Shrimati Ushabai Dange, August 5, 1927; 2 d.; Social and Political Worker; left studies and Joined non-cooperative movement in 1920; was Editor "Socialist" (Publish Weekly), 1922-24; Member, Bombay Legislative Assembly, 1946-51; spent about sixteen years in jail in connection, inter alia, with the Kanpur Conspiracy Case (1924-27), Meerut Conspiracy Case (1929-35) anti-war activities (1939-43) and Bombay State Linguistic Agitation (1956); Founder-Member of the Communist Movement in India from 1922 onwards; Founder-Member of A.I.T.U.C., 1920; Member, Second Lok Sabha, 1957-62.
