(a) whether any scheme is under consideration of the Government for allotment of waste land and
forest land to the farmers in the rural areas for plantation of fruit bearing trees;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) whether the funds are likely to be allocated for the purpose?

(a),(b) & (c) A sum of Rs.1000 crore has been allocated by the Planning Commission for the
Tenth Five Year Plan to the Departmentof Land Resources for taking up a new initiative to
develop wastelands by raising bio-mass with the active involvement of the beneficiaries.
