(a)&(b) The Pradhan Mantri Gram SadakYojana (PMGSY)guidelines stipulate that the rural roads constructed under PMGSY must meet the technical specifications and geometric design standards given in Rural Roads Manual of IRC (IRC SP:20:2002) and Manual for design of low Volume Roads (IRC:SP:72-2007). Further, this Ministry had constituted an Expert Committee to review the geometric design standards in plain and hill areas under PMGSY for achieving economy in the cost of construction under PMGSY, and the final recommendations of the Expert Committee have been accepted by the Ministry and circulated to all the States on 30th September, 2010 for implementation.An extract of the recommendations of the Expert Committee is given at Annexure.
