(a) whether the Government proposes to develop Kumarbagh steel plant under West Champaran district in the State of Bihar;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the funds allocated by the Government to increase the production capacity of abovesaid steel plant in 2021-22; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a)&(b): Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has set up a Steel Processing Unit (SPU) at Kumarbag, Bettiah in West Champaran district of Bihar for processing of HR coil and GP coil into pipes and corrugated sheets respectively at a cost of about Rs.127 crore. The Plant is under stabilization and production ramp up.
(c)&(d): To increase the production capacity of above said steel plant, no fund has been allocated under CAPEX in 2020-21 considering the poor demand in local market, low marketability of product, low realizations of Bettiah Pipes produced, etc.
