Question : Pension to Old Age Persons

(a) whether the Government has denied social security pensions to beneficiaries after their declaration as "dead persons" in the official documents due to errors;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the procedure adopted by the Government to ensure disbursal of pension to such old age persons who are affected by such errors in official records;

(c) whether the Government has come up with other schemes for old age persons below the poverty line; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): No Madam. No such incidence of denying social security pension to beneficiaries under the schemes of National Social Assistance Programme(NSAP) after declaration as “ dead persons” in the official documents due to errors has come to the notice of this Ministry. Moreover, Identification of beneficiaries, sanction and disbursement of benefit under the schemes of National Social Assistance Programme(NSAP) is done by the State/UT Governments.

(c) & (d): No Madam. At present, there is no proposal to introduce other schemes for old age persons below the poverty line household.
