(a) and (b): Under the Accessible India Campaign (AIC), access audits of 1671 selected State/UT Government buildings have been conducted in 2016-17 through the empanelled auditors of the Ministry. State/UT-wise details of access audits are given at Annexure A.
(c) and (d): Under Accessible India Campaign funds are released to State Governments / Union Territories for retrofitting of Public buildings for making them fully accessible to the persons with disabilities. Under AIC, the Ministry has provided financial support to States/UTs amounting to Rs 506.93 crores in respect of 1191 buildings.
In the state of Maharashtra, 180 buildings in the cities of Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik and Pune have been audited. This department has released a sum of Rs 24.91 crores for retrofitting of 142 buildings. The State Government has reported that 135 buildings have been made fully accessible so far.
20 States reported to have completed retrofitting work in 577 buildings. In the Central Government, CPWD reported completion of retrofitting in 1030 out of selected 1100 Central Govt. buildings targeted under Accessible India Campaign.
The State/UTs wise status of the buildings reported to have been made accessible are given at Annexure-A.
(e): The details of targets and the progress thereof under the Accessible India Campaign is given at Annexure-B.
(f): The Ministry provides support to Central Governments/ Departments and State/UT Governments for upgrading sports infrastructure accessible for the differently-abled through the Scheme of Implementation of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act (SIPDA) Scheme. Under AIC, Rs. 2.49 croreshave been provided for 6 facilities in 4 States (Maharashtra, Mizoram, Haryana, Nagaland). Under Creation Barrier Free Environment, which is a sub-scheme under SIPDA Rs. 12.41 crores have been provided to Sports Authority of India for 6 facilities in 4 States (Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Gujarat). The Department has also released Rs 34 crore to CPWD for construction of Centre for Disability Sports at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
