(a) & (b) Directorate General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is implementing Vocational Training Improvement Project (VTIP) with the World Bank assistance covering upgradation of 400 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in 34 States /Union Territories (UTs). Physical component under VTIP consisted of setting up of new classrooms, workshops and modernization of tools, equipment and machinery, training of trainers and ensuring congenial environment. The scheme objective also includes enhancement of knowledge and skills of ITI instructors, strengthening facilities in 14 central institutes, strengthening curriculum development, reforms, capacity building etc. The project started in Dec. 2007 and the closing date for the Project is September 2018.
(c) & (d) The State/UT wise details of number of ITIs alongwith financial progress including State of Uttar Pradesh is at Annexure-I. An amount of Rs. 1633 crorehas been released to 34 States/UTs against which Rs. 1554 crore has been utilized, so far. Upgradation of 16 Government ITIs is covered from the State of Uttar Pradesh and location of ITIs is attached as Annexure-II.
