Question : NATIONAL POPULATION STABILIZATION FUND



(a) whether the National Population Stabilization Fund and formation of an Empowered Action Group for the `BIMARU` States (Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh) has been set up as announced by the Prime Minister;

(b) if so, the details of its composition and guidelines adopted for this purpose;

(c) whether there is any tussle between the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Planning Commission in regard to BIMARU; and

(d) if so, the reasons therefor alongwith the remedial measures taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in the matter?

(a): The National Commission on Population is taking measures to complete various formalities to set up the National Population Stabilization Fund. The formation of the Empowered Action Group is under the consideration of the Department of Family Welfare.
