Question : FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO JHARKHAND

(a) the amount of funds sanctioned and released for the upliftment of poor and backward classes of people of Santhal Pargana and other areas in Jharkhand during the last three years and current year;

(b) the various schemes for which the funds are being sanctioned and the amount of fund utilized, schemes-wise and year-wise during the above period;

(c) whether there is special/packages grants for Jharkhand under the consideration of the Union Government in this regard; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the time by which the same is likely to be granted?

(a) & (b) : Planning Commission approves Annual Plans of the States. These Plans are funded from both States’ resources and Central Assistance. The plan funds are utilized for the development of entire State and for the upliftment of poor and backward classes of the people of the State including Santhal Pargana and other areas of Jharkhand. Sector- wise approved outlay and expenditure for three years and current year for the State of Jharkhand is at Annexure-I. Besides, Planning Commission also allocates funds for Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) such as MNREGA, IAY, NRHM, ICDS implemented by the States. The Administrative Ministries/ Departments concerned release the Central funds in favour of State Government/Agencies. The Central Assistance releases during last three years to Jharkhand for some important CSS for the upliftment of poor and backward classes of people are given at Annexure-II.
