(a) & (b) ‘Sports’ being a State subject, primary responsibility for promotion and development of sports is that of State/Union Territory Governments. Central Government supplements efforts of the State/ UT Governments, under its various schemes.
Financial assistance has been given for bridging the gaps in infrastructure in Gujarat through one of the vertical namely ‘Utilization and creation of Sports Infrastructure’ of Khelo India scheme and details of assistance given are at Annexure-I.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) through Sports Authority of India (SAI) has also been implementing SAI Training Centre (STC) and Centre of Excellence (COE) Schemes to identify and nurture talented sportspersons in Gandhinagar (Gujarat). The details of the trainees trained during the last three years (2016-2019) at Regional Centre of SAI, Gandhinagar (Gujarat) are as under:

The selected trainees are provided assistance in the form of expert coaches, sports equipment, boarding and lodging, sports kit, competition exposure, educational expenses, medical/ insurance and stipend as per the approved scheme norms.
