Question : SEVENTH PAY COMMISSION



(a) whether the Seventh Central Pay Commission to determine salary and allowances of the Central Government Employees was constituted recently and if so, the details thereof along with the time by which the report is likely to be presented to the Government;

(b) whether the Government is also contemplating to change working days in a week from five to six days , reduce the retirement age to 58 years and review the Recruitment Rules for various Government posts; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

STATEMENT AS REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) TO (C) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.259 TO BE ANSWERED ON 13TH MARCH, 2015 REGARDING SEVENTH PAY COMMISSION BY SHRI RAMESH CHANDER KAUSHIK AND SHRI VINCENT H. PALA

(a): The Government of India has appointed the Seventh Central Pay commission comprising of the following vide Resolution dated 28th February, 2014:

 (i) Shri Justice Ashok Kumar Mathur	-	Chairman (ii) Shri Vivek Rae	-	Member (Full time) (iii) Dr. Rathin Roy	-	Member (Part time) (iv) Smt. Meena Agarwal,	-	Secretary 
In terms of the aforesaid Resolution dated 28.2.2014, the Commission is required to make its recommendations within 18 months from the date of its constitution.

(b) & (c). At present, there is no proposal to change working days for Central Government Offices from five to six days a week or to reduce the retirement age of Central Government employees to 58 years. The guidelines on framing/amendment of Recruitment Rules provide that the Recruitment Rules should be reviewed once in 5 years with a view to effecting such changes as are necessary to bring them in conformity with the changed position, including addition to or reduction in the strength of the lower and higher level posts.
