(a) whether the Government has formally inducted the first indigenously built Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) NETRA recently;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the system is fully indigenously developed and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) whether the system will detect and track aircraft, missiles, ships and vehicles and provide command and control to direct friendly forces and if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. The first indigenously developed Airborne Early Warning and Control System, built on Embraer – 145 aircraft KW 3556 was handed over to Indian Air Force on 14 Feb 2017 during Aero India 2017 at Yelahanka Airbase, Bangalore, India.
(c) Yes, Madam. The design is fully indigenous. The basic aircraft is imported as per Operational Requirements and All Mission Systems are indigenously developed.
(d) Yes, Madam. The system will detect and track aircraft and ships and provide command and control to direct friendly forces.
