(a) the details of C.S.D. canteens functioning in the country, State-wise and location-wise, with special reference to Kerala;
(b) whether the Government propose to set up some more C.S.D. canteens in the country particularly in Kerala; and
(c) if so, the details thereof, location-wise?

(a) State-wise break-up of Unit Run Canteens (URCs),
popularly known as C.S.D. canteens, including in the state
of Kerala is enclosed as Annexure-I. The total number
exceeds three thousand four hundred.
(b) & (c): The feasibility of opening Unit-run-
canteens is a continuous process which is examined by the
concerned Defence Headquarters, keeping in view the
existing infrastructure, man-power, strength of eligible
consumers and the economic viability of the proposal.
Moreover, the number and location of Unit-run-canteens
keep on changing due to operational and administrative
reasons.
