Question : COMPUTERISATION OF LAND RECORDS



(a) whether computerisation of land records has been completed in all the States/Union Territories;

(b) if so, the details thereof, States/Union Territory-wise;

(c) the funds allocated/ released/utilised for the purpose during 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 States/Union Territory-wise;

(d) the expenditure incurred thereon so ; and

(e) the number of Taluka benefited under the scheme in the country, States/Union Territory-wise?

(a) The Scheme of Computerisation of Land Records was started in the year 1988-89 with 100% financial assistance as a Pilot Project in 8 States with the objective that land owners should get computerised copies of their Record of Rights. At present the scheme is being implemented in 569 districts out of 595 districts of the country.

(b) A Statement showing State/ Union Territory-wise details about the districts covered under the programme is enclosed at Annexure-I

(c) State-wise budget allocation is not made under the scheme. The proposals received from the States/Union Territories from time to time are examined and funds released to them as per the guidelines. During the year 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 (upto 8.8.2001), a total amount of Rs. 47.60 crores and Rs. 11.18 crores respectively has been released under the scheme to the States/Union Territories.

(d) A Statement showing State/ Union Territory-wise progress of funds released (since inception-1988-89) and utilised under the scheme is enclosed at Annexure-II.

(e) So far 2383 tehsils/taluks/blocks have been operationalised under the scheme in the country as shown at Annexure I, as referred to in reply to part (b) of the question.
