Question : VILLAGE ELECTRIFICATION



(a) the target fixed for providing electricity in the villages during each of the last three years,State-wise through Non-Conventional Energy Sources;

(b)whether the Government has achieved the above target;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(d)the total amount spent during each of the last three years and till date for this purpose, State-wise?

(a):No state-wise targets are allocated under the Programme and projects are sanctioned on the basis of proposals submitted by the states.

(b)&(c):The targets of the Ministry and achievements for the last three years are given in Tables 1& 2 respectively. The reasons for shortfall in achievements include delay in submission of proposals by the state governments after identification of remote villages, time taken in survey of large number of villages located in remote areas and delay in matching fund allocation by the state governments.The Ministry maintains constant follow up with the state implementing agencies to reduce the delays.

(d):The state-wise details of funds released during the last 3 years and till date are given in Table-3.
