Question : DISPLACED PERSONS OF DVC



(a) the details of land acquired for Damodar Valley Corporation, the agreement made with the land loosers/displaced people and also the number of displaced persons;

(b) the details of the compensation paid and employment provided to the displaced people;

(c) whether the whole catchment area of DVC, power generation centre, water reservoir etc. are located in the State of Jharkhand;

(d) if so, whether the Government are contemplating to shift the Regional Headquarter and Central Headquarter of DVC from Kolkata to Dhanbad or Jamshedpur in Jharkhand;

(e) if so, the time by which it is likely to be shifted; and

(f) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b) : The details of the land acquired for Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and the employment provided to the displaced persons are as under :

Preparation of displaced persons panel for Bokaro TPS `B` and Chandrapura TPS is under process in consultation with Dy. Commissioner, Bokaro, Jharkhand. Although there is no formal agreement between DVC and the displaced persons for providing employment but as per policy approved by the Corporation 30% quota in the available vacancy of the unskilled posts (Gr. `D`) is kept reserved for the displaced persons. Compensation as per approved rates of the State Governments has been paid to the displaced persons.

(c) to (f) : The catchment area of DVC is located in both the States of Jharkhand and West Bengal. Any decision to change the Regional/Central Headquarters of DVC has to be taken jointly by the three participating Governments, viz. the Central Government and the State Governments of Jharkhand and West Bengal.
