(a) to (c): The Government of India has been implementing the provisions of the Handlooms (Reservation of Articles for Production) Act, 1985 to protect the interests of handloom weavers and rich cultural heritage of the country from the impact of powerloom industry. 11 textile items are exclusively reserved with some technical specifications for production on handlooms under handlooms reservation order S.O. 2160( E) dated 3.9.2008. The Government is also implementing several schemes to provide raw material at reasonable rates, concessional credit, technical support and marketing assistance to handloom weavers.
