MINISTER OF STATE FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT (SHRI KODIKUNNIL SURESH)

(a) The State wise number of ITIs as on date is annexed at ‘A’ and no Skill Development Centres under Ministry of Labour & Employment have been set up so far.

However, there is a proposal to set up 1500 ITIs and 5000 SDCs in the country in Public Private Partnership under the scheme “Kaushal Vikas Yojana”. The scheme is in the process of approval. The reason for setting up these institutes in PPP mode is to harness private sector efficiencies in skill development and mobilise resources needed for the purpose.
