Question : Conservation of Natural Gas Reserves

(a) the details of the efforts being made by the Government for conservation of Natural Gas Reserves at present;

(b) whether the Government is taking any measures for setting-up of CNG Stations and conservation of Naturual Gas Reserves and their promotion in Madhya Pradesh and if so, the details thereof;

(c) the details of major schemes being implemented by the Government in Madhya Pradesh; and

(d) whether any new scheme of the Government is approved in the Betul, Harda, Harsud, Khargone Barwani Praliamentary constituency and if so, the details thereof?

(a)to (d): Government has taken several efforts for conservation of natural gas reserves which inter-alia include minimised gas-flare, closure of high Gas Oil Ratio (GOR) wells, reinjection of produced gas in sub-surface for pressure-maintenance, improved / enhanced oil & gas recovery from fields, etc. Further, Government of India on 10.10.2018 has notified policy to promote and incentivize Enhanced Recovery (ER) Methods for Oil and Gas.

Establishment of CNG Stations is a part of the development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) Network and the same is carried out by the entities authorized by Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB). So far PNGRB has authorized 295 Geographical Areas (GAs) in the country, out of which 25 GAs are authorized in the State of Madhya Pradesh. These GAs include the Districts of Betul, Harda, Harsud (Khandwa District), Khargone and Barwani.
