Question : GAUGE CONVERSION BETWEEN JAIPUR-LOHARU,CHURU-SIKAR



(a) whether the work on narrow gauge from Jaipur to Loharu, Churu to Sikar in Rajasthan has not been converted into broad gauge despite announcement made in the Railway Budget 2007-08; and

(b) if so, the reasons for delay alongwith the time by which it is likely to be completed?

(a) & (b): In the Budget Speech 2007-08, it was mentioned that priority will be given to accord approval for execution of projects which will serve as alternate routes on the network. One of such alternate routes mentioned therein was Jaipur- Sikar-Churu-Jhunjhunu. The work of gauge conversion of Jaipur-Ringus-Churu & Sikar- Loharu has thereafter been included in Railway Budget 2008-09. The detailed estimate for the project has been prepared. Tenders for Jaipur-Chomu-Ringus and Sikar-Loharu Sections have been processed. The project will be progressed as per availability of resources.
