Question : WELFARE SCHEMES FOR OLD AGE PERSONS



(a) the details of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme being implemented for the welfare of old age persons;

(b) the funds allocated and released by the Government to each State for implementation of these schemes during the last three years and current year;

(c) whether the Government has received any proposal from State Government under various schemes for the old age persons during the said period;

(d) if so. the details thereof; and

(e) the number of old age homes functioning in each State at present and the number of old age persons benefited therefrom?

(a) The Government is not implementing any Centrally Sponsored Scheme for the welfare of old age persons. However, the Government is implementing a Central Sector Scheme namely,`Integrated Programme for Older Persons` under which financial assistance is provided to Non-Governmental Organizations on the basis of the recommendation of the concerned State Government.No funds are released to the State Governments.

(b) to (d) Does not arise in view of reply to (a) above.

(e) State-wise number of Old Age Homes assisted through NGOs and number of beneficiaries covered during 2008-09 is given in Annex.
