Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COAL (DR. DASARINARAYANA RAO)

(a): Yes, Sir

(b): The amount of revenue collected from these mines during the last three years is given as under:-

Years	Revenue collected (In Rs.)
2002-03	118,77,60,980.00
2003-04	230,34,74,170.00
2004-05	373,97,16,891.00

(c ): As reported by Coal India Limited, there is no illegal mine as such in CIL areas. However, illegal mining is carried out stealthily and clandestinely from abandoned/closed/disused mines or from outcrop regions.

(d) &(e): Primarily, it is the responsibility of the State/District Administration to take necessary deterrent action to stop curb/illegal mining. Since illegal mining is clandestinely done it is not possible to make any assessment about tax evasion.
