Question : FUNDS TO MAHARASHTRA FOR ON-GOING POWER PROJECTS



(a) whether the Union Government have received any representations from the Government of Maharashtra to provide funds for development of the on-going projects and setting up of new power projects;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the details of the proposals cleared by the Union Government?

(a) to (c) : The power projects to be set up by various State Governments are funded out of their State Power Plan outlay which is decided by the respective State Governments within the approved overall State Plan size. No specific proposal has been exclusively received from the Government of Maharashtra for setting up of a project. For the Annual Plan 2001-02, the Government of Maharashtra had proposed an outlay of Rs.1558.16 crore, which has been recommended by the Working Group. The State Government has also been provided Rs.134.44 crore under Accelerated Power Development Programme during 2000-01.
