Question : Reviving of IGI Airport

(a) whether Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in Delhi is ranked among the top fifty best airports in the global list and the best airport in Central Asia as per a latest survey;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the number of Indian airports selected in above survey?

(a) & (b): Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi is ranked among the top fifty best airports globally by Skytrax World Airport Awards. It is also ranked as Best Airport in India & Central Asia at the 2020 World Airport Awards. Further, Delhi Airport has won "Best Airport by size and Region (over 40 million Passengers per Annum in Asia-Pacific)" by Airports Council International (ACI) in Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards in 2020.

(c): Participation in the survey for ranking of airports is upto the airport operators, to guage their performance against the benchmark standards. In India, most of the airport operators participate in the ACI-ASQ survey. ASQ is global benchmarking programme measuring passengers’ satisfaction whilst they are travelling through an airport. Out of 28 Indian airports participating in ACI-ASQ survey, 5 airports of Airports Authority of India (AAI) namely Kolkata, Pune, Amritsar, Varanasi and Chandigarh have won 6 awards in different categories in 2020.
