Question : PASSENGERS TRAVELLING TO N.E. STATES



(a) the percentage of Government servants and common people travelling to North-East by Indian Airlines;

(b) the percentage of the reduced air fare allowed on this sector;

(c) whether the Government intend to restructure this airfare by doing away with the subsidy; and

(d) if so, the Government have any plan to reduce the loss incurred on this sector?

(a): Indian Airlines does not have a profile of the passengers travelling to North-East. However, according to the passengers survey conducted by a Committee constituted by the Director General of Civil Aviation in the North-East sector the percentage of Government servants travelling is 23.0%.

(b): The fares in the North-East are about 40.45% lower than the corresponding fares in the other parts of the country.

(c): No, Sir.

(d): Does not arise.
