Question : Conversion of SHs to NH in Odisha

(a) the details of State roads/State Highways (SHs) in Odisha that have been approved for declaration as National Highway (NH) during the last five years;

(b) the present status thereof, NH-wise;

(c) the time by which the work on these upgraded NH is likely to be completed;

(d) whether the Government proposes to approve Bhawanipatna-Muniguda-Bissamcuttack- Rayagada-Parvatipuram (Andhra/Odisha Border) as NH and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the time by which the four laning work thereon is likely to start?

(a) to (c) Twelve roads having an aggregate length of 1,114 km have been notified as National Highways (NHs) during the last five years in Odisha. Development and maintenance of National Highways (NHs) is a continuous process and works are taken up depending on the inter-se-priority of works, traffic and availability of funds, etc.

(d) to (e) This Ministry considers declaration of such State Roads/Highways as new NHs from time to time keeping in view the requirement of connectivity, inter-se-priority and availability of funds, etc.
