(a) the names of the States which have shown interest and those where it has already been in use in the Public Distribution System (PDS); and
(b) whether any study has been conducted to ascertain the efficacy of the machine to check irregularities in PDS and if so, the details and the outcome thereof?

(a): As per the information received from States/UTs, the total 1,25,104 Fair Price Shops (FPS) have been automated so far by installation of e-PoS machines i.e. Andhra Pradesh (28,942), Andaman & Nicobar (3), Chhattisgarh (11,828), Daman & Diu (51), Delhi (34), Gujarat (17,000), Haryana (20), Jharkhand (2,198), Karnatka (3,877), Madhya Pradesh (22,401), Maharashtra (93), Odisha (32), Rajasthan (24,647), Sikkim (20), Tamil Nadu(12,297), Telangana (1,622), Tripura (25), Uttar Pradesh (6) & Uttarakhand (8).
