(a) & (b) The Central Government provides financial and technical assistance to the States to supplement their efforts to provide drinking water to rural areas. Under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP), 15% of fund is allocated for Operation & Maintenance activities through which improved methods is to be adopted for better working of the rural water supply schemes and to control the leakages in distribution system.
