Question : OLD AGE HOMES



(a) the criteria/guidelines adopted in the country for construction/maintenance of old age homes;

(b) the details of old age home established in the country during each of the last three years and current-year, State-wise;

(c) the number of the old persons living in old age homes area-wise during said period, area-wise;

(d) whether any proposal of Rajasthan is pending with the Government for establishing these old age home;

(e) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government in this regard; and

(f) the details of funds provided/proposed to be provide for this purpose during the said period, State-wise?

(a) to (c): Presently there is no Scheme of providing assistance for construction of Old Age Homes.

Under the Ministry’s Scheme of Integrated Programme for Older Persons (IPOP), financial assistance is given for running and maintenance of Old Age Homes (OAHs) to suitable NGOs, Panchayati Raj Institutions/ Local Bodies and Government recognized institutions like Nehru Yuva Kendras based on the recommendation of the State level Grant-in-aid Committee. In case of non-governmental organization, it should be a registered society having experience of at least two years in the field to be eligible for assistance. No grant is given for establishing Old Age Homes.

A Statement showing State-wise amount of grant released to NGOs for running and maintenance of OAHs, number of OAHs assisted, and location of such homes since 2008-09 are given in Annexure. Grant has been sanctioned for 25 inmates for each of these homes.

(d): No grant is given for establishing of Old Age Homes.

(e) and (f): Does not arise.
