(a) Water is a state subject. It is for the States to plan, design, implement and execute drinking water supply schemes in rural areas.Funds under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) are released to all States for taking up Piped Water Supply Schemes (PWSS)as per guidelinesand the budgetary allocation under the programme. As per the extant guidelines, coverage component of NRDWP, funds are released to the States on 50:50 (Centre: State) sharing basis.
