Question : Damanganga-Pinjal River Linking Project

(a) the extent to which progress has been made in the Damanganga-Pinjal river linking project;
(b) whether the work of DPR has been completed in this regard;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the details of other work proposed to be carried out after DPR to benefit the people?

(a) to (d) The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Damanganga-Pinjal link project was completed by National Water Development Agency (NWDA) in March, 2014 and sent to Governments of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The Advisory Committee of Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation (now Ministry of Jal Shakti) in its meeting held on 08.07.2016 has accorded techno-economic clearance to the project. Implementation of river link projects involves various steps like obtaining forest clearance from Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for diversion of forest land, clearance for Rehabilitation and Resettlement of tribal population from Ministry of Tribal Affairs, etc.

The draft MoU for implementation of the project has also been sent to Governments of Maharashtra and Gujarat for concurrence.
