Question : Projects under PMGSY

(a) whether the Government has received any proposal under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme from the States of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh during the last two years and the current year;

(b) the number of kilometers in bordering districts of Bihar likely to be covered under the PMGSY during the next two years; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a): Since inception of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the Ministry has so far cleared proposal to construct 50,035 Kms of roads amounting to Rs. 25,701 Crore to Bihar and 52,604 Kms of roads amounting to Rs. 14,592 Crore to Uttar Pradesh (upto 2nd December, 2015). The States have reported to have completed a road length of 34,653 kms of roads with an expenditure of Rs. 16,969 crore in Bihar and 44,679 kms of roads with an expenditure of Rs. 11,747 crore in Uttar Pradesh ( till October, 2015). The details of proposals sanctioned to these two States during the last two years and the current year is as under :

(b)& (c): The Ministry of Rural Development in consultation with the Ministry of Finance has prepared an action plan for acceleration of execution of PMGSY with the enhanced allocation of funds to the States, in order to substantially complete PMGSY works by 2019. Accordingly, all States are required to submit their proposal in accordance with their execution capacity to the Ministry for sanction.
