Question : REPORT ON CONSTITUTION REVIEW COMMISSION

he steps so far taken by the Government towards implementing the recommendations of the Constitution Review Commission particularly on the recommendations made in regard to making comprehensive changes in the electoral laws, inclusion of new fundamental rights in the Constitution and to debar such citizens from occupying top most posts in the country, who are not born in the country?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF LAW AND JUSTICE (SHRI K. JANA KRISHNAMURTHY)

Action on the recommendations made by the Commission lies with the Ministries/Departments of the Government of India, which are administratively concerned with the subject matter of the recommendations. The concerned Ministries/Departments have been requested to examine the recommendations. The examination of the recommendations, which is a time consuming process, has been initiated and these require detailed examination before the decision regarding their implementation can be taken.

As regards non-Indian born citizens, the Commission has not made any specific recommendation but has suggested that the issue should be examined in-depth through a political process after a national dialogue.
