(a): An updating survey for new line from Khamgaon-Jalna (155 km) was completed in 2011-12. As per survey report, cost of Khamgaon-Jalna new line was assessed as `1027 crore with Rate of Return of (-) 4.26%. Due to unremunerative nature of the project, huge throwforward of ongoing projects and limited overall availability of funds, this project could not be taken forward.
(b) & (c): Further, Khamgaon-Jalna (155 km) new line project was included in Capital Investment Programme 2016-17 at an anticipated cost of `3000 crore in anticipation of State Government coming forward to take up the project through Joint Venture but Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Limited (MRIDL), a Joint Venture Company of Government of Maharashtra and Ministry of Railways has not yet identified this project for taking up under Joint Venture mode.
(d): However, a Reconnaissance Engineering-cum-Traffic Survey for this new line has been sanctioned in the month of February, 2019. Survey work has been taken by Railway.
