(a) the length of coastal highways/roads on the sea coast of Gujarat which has
not been notified and upgraded as National Highways;
(b) whether the Government is contemplating to notify and upgrade all such roads as National Highways;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) the steps taken so far in this regard; and
(e) the time by which such roads are likely to be upgraded?

(a) A length of 1040.00 Km of Coastal Highways/Roads on the sea coast of Gujarat has not been declared
as National Highways.
(b) to (e) Expansion of NH network is a continuous process. Declaration of any road as a National
Highway depends not only on the consideration that it runs along the coast but on several other
considerations including traffic needs, inter-se priority, requirement of connectivity on all
India basis and availability of Funds.
