Question : Plantation of Trees along National Highways

(a) whether the Government has any plan to plant trees on both sides of highways along with other facilities during the development of highways in Uttar Pradesh including district Barabanki and nearby districts; and

(b) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (b) Yes, Sir. The plantation on both sides of highways during the development of highways in the country is carried out as per relevant provisions of Manual published by Indian Roads Congress (IRC), Green Highways Policy, 2015 and other guidelines of Government of India. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) planted 3.41 lakh plants along national highways in the state of Uttar Pradesh, out of which 1.68 lakh have been planted in Barabanki and nearby Districts.
NHAI has initiated action to develop other facilities such as wayside amenities, bus-bay, truck-lay-by etc., as per site specific requirement and availability of funds.
