Question : CONSTRUCTION OF BRIDGE OVER BAGHMATI RIVER



(a) whether the Baghmati river is inundated by floods every year effecting the entire areas of Patna, Seohar and Sitamarhi districts of the Bihar State;

(b) whether the Patna-Seohar-Sitamarhi road is severely effected thereby;

(c) whether the present National Highway No.77 becomes ineffective for use due to the heavy traffic and the people are compelled to travel by boat;

(d) if so, whether there is any proposal to build a bridge between Kotchha-Rumi Saidpur villages between Muzzaffarpur-Sitamarhi; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) Only the reach Patna-Muzaffarpur-Jhapaha forms part of National Highway network whereas reach Jhapaha-Seohar-Sitamarhi lying in Baghmati belt area is a State road. Part of Seohar and Sitamarhi districts are reported to be affected by Baghmati flood waters.
(c) to (e) The works for the construction of two high level major bridges at Katunjha near Runi Saidpur and Maksudpur in replacement of existing submersible cause ways between Muzaffarpur and Sitamarhi on National Highway No.77 are already in progress.
