(a) the irrigation potential generated and percentage of its
utilization, State-wise during the last three years and the
current year;
(b) whether there is less than optimum utilization of the same;
(c) if so, the reasons for under utilization of the potential; and
(d) the steps taken by the Government for optimum utilisation of
the irrigation potential?

(a) The state-wise irrigation potential created during the last three years
(2007-08, 08-09, 09-10) and the current year (2010-11) are annexed. The
utilisation of this newly created irrigation potential is not maintained
by this Ministry.
(b) & (c) Do not arise.
(d) Planning and implementation of irrigation projects are undertaken by
respective State Governments. However, Government of India provides financial
assistance to States under “Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme†(AIBP),
“Command Area Development and Water Management†(CAD&WM) and “Repair,
Restoration and Renovation†(RRR) of Water Bodies for optimum utilisation
of the irrigation potential.
