(BSUP) & Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme
(IHSDP) component of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban
Renewal Mission, 15 lakh houses are proposed to be
constructed over the Mission Period (2005-12). Against
this target of 15 lakh houses, 14.5 lakh dwelling units
have been sanctioned for construction under JNNURM.
State-wise details of dwelling units sanctioned for
construction under BSUP and IHSDP are annexed. To boost
housing activities the Government has proposed to launch a
new scheme called Rajiv Awas Yojana for the slum dwellers
and urban poor. The scheme would extend support to states
that are willing to assign property rights to people living
in slum areas. The Government efforts would be to create
slum free India through Rajiv Awas Yojana.
