THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT(SHRI SAUGATA ROY)

(a)&(b): No, Madam.

(c)to(e): Under the Basic Services to the Urban Poor (BSUP) & Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) component of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, 15 lakh houses are proposed to be constructed over the Mission Period (2005-12). Against this target of 15 lakh houses, 14.5 lakh dwelling units have been sanctioned for construction under JNNURM. State-wise details of dwelling units sanctioned for construction under BSUP and IHSDP are annexed. To boost housing activities the Government has proposed to launch a new scheme called Rajiv Awas Yojana for the slum dwellers and urban poor. The scheme would extend support to states that are willing to assign property rights to people living in slum areas. The Government efforts would be to create slum free India through Rajiv Awas Yojana.
