Question : DDA OFFICERS PUNISHED IN CORRUPTION CASES

:

(a) the number of officers of Delhi Development Authority who have been punished in corruption cases against them as on date;

(b) the break-up of the number of such officers against whom the authority has taken action or trial is being conducted in courts or Central Bureau of Investigation in investigating corruption cases;

(c) the names of the said officers and the charges that have been made against them along with details of the allegations which have been proved; and

(d) the steps taken or proposed to be taken by the Government to check corruption in D.D.A.?

(a): The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has reported that 15 of its officials has been convicted by the courts in corruption cases during the last three years.

(b); DDA has reported that they have dismissed nine officials after their conviction. Action for imposing penalty on the remaining six officials is under process. Besides, 16 cases registered in last three years, are pending trial in courts and cases of three officials are under investigation by CBI.

(c): The details are given in the enclosed statement.

(d): In order to streamline functioning and to exercise strict vigilance, several measures have been initiated by DDA, including information dissemination and facilitation for the public, higher transparency in allotment procedure, holding of special camps for speedy disposal of cases, computerization & training of work force.

Ashok Kumar Gupta -do- Allegations proved/ convicted by the Trial Court and dismissed from service on 19.11.2003. 7. Mohd. Abbas -do- Allegations proved/ convicted by the Trial Court and dismissed from service on 3.12.2003. 8. Satish Kumar Gupta -do- Allegations proved/ convicted by the Trial Court and dismissed from service on 16.12.2003. 9. Kanti Kumar -do- Allegations proved/ convicted by the Trial Court and dismissed from service on 27.12.2003. 10. Om Kanwan -do- Allegations proved/ convicted by the Trial Court on 24.8.2004. Case is under process for imposition of penalty. 11. Sh. Kartak Singh -do- Allegations proved/ convicted by the Trial Court on 17.9.2004. Case is under process for imposition of penalty. 12. J.C. Verma -do- Allegations proved/ convicted by the Trial Court on 17.9.2004. Case is under process for imposition of penalty. 13. Nepal Singh Rawal -do- Allegations proved/ convicted by the Trial Court on 29.10.2004. Case is under process for imposition of penalty. 14. Om Prakash -do- Allegations proved/ convicted by the Trial Court on 23.12.99. Case is under process for imposition of penalty. 15. S.C. Joshi -do- Allegations proved/ convicted by the Trial Court on 13.1.2003, However, High Court of Delhi stayed the conviction on 2.4.2003 on appeal.
